Soundtrack Compilations #8 : Our Idiot Brother (2011) & Forgetting Sarah Marshall (2011)

This edition of Soundtrack Compilations, I pick two light but feel-good movies; Our Idiot Brother (2011) which I just have seen and Forgetting Sarah Marshall (2008), one of my favorites last year. Different from usual, I gave you each 3 songs because I surprisingly enjoy them all.

Forgetting Sarah MarshallOST Forgetting Sarah Marshall (2008)

Though I already seen the movie couple of months ago, I didn’t notice until now that the movie has some great, easy listening tracks. The stars in it also contribute their song that some of them performed in a movie, like Russell Brand’s Infant Sorrow and some of Jason Segel’s character song creations. Check out acoustic track from Jesse Harris, Secret Sun, and upbeat, catchy track from The Coconutz’s, These Boots Are Made For Walkin’. But I love the most these 3 tracks : Continue reading

Movie Report : September 2011

As usual, I am writing my monthly movie report as well as welcoming a new month! Ied Fitri holiday may made me have much errands to do, but it gave me much time to watch lots movies too, and I am grateful for that. I watched a lot of 2011 movies, which is great. I am finally catching up :) I was looking for a good rom coms, as they are much lighter to digest. Plus I haven’t found any good one for this year, but I found some of them this month. Thanks for the comments, some of them reached as the most popular post. The reviewed films didn’t need an overview, but I’m still placing their images to make it more merrier :)

Love Me If You Dare / Jeux d’enfants (2003)

This twisted love story is about two bestfriends, Sophie (Marion Cotillard) and Julien (Guillaume Canet). As a way to keep life less depressing, they both keep daring each other doing rebellious things. One day, Julien’s dad wants Julien to choose between his college and Sophie. Julien chooses his college and cuts Sophie out of his life. And then, the real dare game begins.

I say twisted, because since child they have been doing this ‘dare’ game that might be fun for them, but in real life it will only causing themselves a trouble. I love the Amelie-magical feeling in this movie. I’d never pictured Marion Cotillard as a bad-influence girl, but she is in here. The reason I wanted to see it because of her appearance. But the ending is a little bit unrealistic, and the daring is sick, actually.

Movie Score : 3,5 Stars

Forgetting Sarah Marshall (2008)

Forgetting Sarah Marshall
Forgetting Sarah Marshall is a romantic comedy about music composer Peter Bretter (Jason Segel) who had recently broken-up from his long time girlfriend, Sarah Marshall (Kristen Bell). Sarah was also the lead star in the TV program which he composed music for. Devastated, Peter went on vacation to Hawaii. But then he discovered that Sarah and her new boyfriend were also there and stayed in the same hotel as him. Didn’t want to look like he was avoiding them, he decided to stay with the risk of more heartbroken than he already was.

I personally love Jason Segel. Thanks to How I Met Your Mother, since I love the show very much. Not so different from his role there, Jason’s character still is a sensitive man who loves his girlfriend unconditionally. He has the quality to be funny and sensitive at the same time. Approachable and nice, is a good combination for an actor. He could enact the brokenhearted character naturally, as he also wrote the script. Being a high-maintenanced and bossy girlfriend also played by Kristen Bell, creates more attitude in the movie. In fact, I think she gives her best on this role. Russel Brand as her new pervertish British boyfriend adds another funny element on the comedy. Mila Kunis’ character is an easygoing girl who once had her heart brokenhearted as well. Continue reading
